JH Matbar is a wonderful restaurant in Ystad, passionate about locally grown food in season. Here you are offered delicious dishes, so when I was asked to make new mugs for the coffee, I was really happy!
After discussions with Christoffer and Malin, the duo behind the restaurant, we agreed on a soft form in a porcelain white clay with some structure, and a soft beige glaze. Most of the outside of the mug was left unglazed, and the texture of the surface makes them comfortable to hold. The other day the mugs were delivered to the restaurant, and it's always something special to see the ceramics in their final setting!
To make this even more special, the restaurant had a very good year last year, getting awards such as Bib Gourmand in Guide Michelin and 360°Eat Guide, a list for sustainable restaurants. Huge congratulations to both awards, so well deserved!
If you're ever in Ystad, I highly recommend you to book a table and enjoy a very lovely dinner at JH Matbar. All in season and from local suppliers, and very very delicious. And the after dinner coffee you order will be served in my mugs!
