Handmade with love

Ceramics by Maria Richardsson

Ceramics made to be used, day after day. With clean lines and calm colours. The colours and textures of the clays are visible, and the contrast between raw clay and glaze creates tension. Tactile surfaces that offer peace and stability in a chaotic world. Surfaces where the craftsmanship is present and visible.

I want to keep it simple.

Clean lines, calm colors. I like seeing the colors and textures of the different clays, and I love the contrast between raw clay and shiny glaze. You should be able to see that it's not perfect. The glaze might have run or splattered a bit during glazing, but that makes it feel alive. It's handmade, perhaps with a slight unevenness or crookedness. Just a little, enough to gives the piece a soul.

THE LOVE OF CERAMICS

Ceramics is a slow process. You can't rush the clay, and you can see traces of the hand's work in the finished product. There are many steps from a lump of clay to a finished mug, and it takes time. That's also the charm of craft, and why I love working with clay!
