Nytt till Hörte Brygga (2024)

New to Hörte Brygga (2024)

The summer season at summer restaurant Hörte Brygga is coming closer, and I was lucky enough to be asked to do a few new pieces for the service this summer. This is the third summer I’ve been making for them, and I love how we’re constantly evolving together.

Emma and Martin are so incredibly dedicated in creating a experience like no other when eating their long lunch. It is not just about the food (which is amazing!), and it is not just about the place. They’re creating a story for you to experience, well thought through from start to finish. And after telling us their plans for this season… Well, it’s going to be better than ever!

We had a meeting a while back, discussing ideas, and words like “forest fires” and “enchanted forest” were used. We took all their inspiration and their ideas, and created a set of pieces for them. And when I say we, I mean me and my woodworking husband as he has been a part of this project too!

All in all, we delivered a serving plate inspired by a lake, sauce jugs inspired by trees, a cloche inspired by forest fires and wooden spoons carved by my husband. I also added a new piece to sit on the table during service, in the same style as the salt jar and wine coasters I made in previous years.

This is such a dream project, for many reasons. First of all, the ambition of Emma and Martin is outstanding, with creativity, excellence and a passion for sustainability. It is an absolute honour to be able to support them in that. Hörte brygga is also our closest restaurant when we’re at our summer house, so there is a strong local connection. They’re also always pushing me a bit outside my comfort zone, which is making me a better potter (although a frustrated one at times!)

To see the sparkle in their eyes when we delivered the pieces the other day, that is the very reason I’m doing what I’m doing. Thank you Emma and Martin, for doing such an amazing job with the restaurant and for letting me and Kristoffer being a part of it!
